In 1970, there were various companies that issued baseball card sets, including Kellogg's, Fleer, Rold Gold Pretzels, Transogram and Milton Bradley. The 1970 Topps baseball card base set is the most widely available to collectors today, featuring 720 cards and similar subsets as in previous years – League Leaders, Playoff Highlights, World Series Highlights and All-Stars. As was typically the case, the higher number series (numbers 634 through 720) are more challenging to find.

Rookie cards from this set, such as Thurman Munson, Bill Buckner, Vida Blue and Larry Bowa, are among the key cards. Topps also released their Canadian O-Pee-Chee series, the 42-card Topps Super set, and more unusual variations like the Scratch-Offs and Candy Lids. The Topps Scratch-Offs series is a 24-card set of folded cardboard inserts designed to be a game that was played by scratching off the ink. The Topps Candy Lids, as the name suggests, were round lids that featured players' photos.
Also in this year, Fleer issued a set of 66 cards that honored World Series teams for the years 1903 through 1969, excluding 1904. The 1970 Kellogg's baseball card set has 75 cards, found in boxes of their cereal. The cards had a 3-D appearance. Key cards are Pete Rose, Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays, Ernie Banks and Reggie Jackson. You might also see the 1970 Milton Bradley baseball card game, which included 28 player cards, the Rold Gold Pretzels set (15 cards) and the Transogram baseball card set that was included with their figurines.
