The set comes with a 1oz high relief .999 fine gold coin and a 1oz .999 fine silver medal, celebrating the 230th anniversary of the Flowing Hair Dollar, with original mint boxes and certificates of authenticity. This set marks the 230th anniversary of the first dollar coin ever issued by the United States, the Flowing Hair Dollar. The Coinage Act of 1792, passed by Congress, established the U.S. Mint and regulated coinage to specific denominations and contents. Thus, the U.S. adopted a standard monetary unit in the dollar and the first Flowing Hair Silver Dollars were struck in 1974.
