BOEOTIA. Federal Coinage. Ca. 4th century BC. AR hemidrachm (15mm, 2.65 gm, 11h). NGC Choice AU S 5/5 - 5/5. Boeotian shield / Cantharus; BO-I across fields, crescent left to right, club right above, all within concave circle. BCD Boeotia 40. Bright flashes of iridescent toning. Ex Jonathan K. Kern Collection. The crescent on the reverse, along with the style of the shield, might indicate this issue was struck at different times, or by different mints, or both, than the main mint of the League, and they were issued after the liberation of Kadmeia by the Theban Nationalists.
