Fengtien. Kuang-hsü Dollar Year 24 (1898) MS64 PCGS, Fengtien mint, KM-Y87, L&M-471, Kann-244, WS-0583. Narrow mouth, pointed "one" variety. Among the most instantly recognizable provincial Dollars and a favorite of collectors across the entire Chinese series, these products of Fengtien manufacturing always dazzle when brought to market. An incomparable survivor, lavishly and carefully struck, and preserved in such a way as to develop a stunning tonality to carry its obvious superiority. While the more common of the mouth-shape varieties, the grade is anything but, with surfaces devoid of any singularly significant instances of handling, and outranked by a single example between both grading services.
