Kansu. Republic Yuan Shi-kai Dollar Year 3 (1914) XF Details (Cleaned) PCGS, Lanzhou mint, KM-Y407, L&M-617, Kann-759, WS-0706. A commendable selection of this immense provincial rarity, whose appearances at auction, even while impaired, garner impressive sums. Featuring the profile portrait of Yuan Shih-kai flanked by "Kan Su," specifying its use in provincial trade. These characters would ultimately be removed, resulting in the more prolific Year 3 Dollars that we offer quite frequently. Moderately handled and plagued by conditional qualifiers that so often accompany the type which are lightly obscured by a gentle dove-gray patina, making this piece no less desirable than its straight-graded counterpart.
