Connecticut May 10, 1775 20s PMG About Uncirculated 53. Legislation in 1775 authorized £50,000 in Treasury Notes dated May 10, 1775, that were redeemable on May 10, 1777, without interest. The note is well printed on good paper with clear, dark design details including the Connecticut coat of arms on the face. The red ink signatures of Benjamin Payne, Jesse Root, and William Pitkin are still sharp and legible, a situation not often seen due to the tendency of red ink to fade over time. PMG mentions a subtle split repair, not readily apparent through the holder. The lower right face margin is trimmed into the design precluding this note from an even higher grade.
