Delaware June 1, 1759 20s PMG Very Fine 30. The May 7, 1759, Act authorized £27,000 in legal tender Bills of Credit to be issued for the emission dated June 1, 1759. Of that £27,000, £20,000 was used to both replace the February 28, 1746, issuance and give out new loans, while the remaining £7,000 was available for public expense. This 20s example represents the highest denomination permitted for this emission. Printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall, this note features the British coat of arms at left on the face. On the back, leaves and a ferocious lion finish the layout. This piece is especially well printed, and both the signatures and serial numbers remain legible. Always popular due to its elusiveness and Benjamin Franklin connection, this note could very well exceed our estimate. PMG comments on splits in the center horizontal fold.
