New York August 13, 1776 $5 PMG Very Fine 30. The Resolution of August 13, 1776, authorized $300,000 in legal tender Bills of Credit. The note features the New York City coat of arms on the face and a thirteen candle candelabrum representing the colonies with the motto UNO EODEEMQUE IGNI (one and the same fire) on the back. The signatures of Johannes Sleght and Alexander Webster are dark and quite legible. PMG mentions some stray stains and evidence of previous mounting which are not overly distracting.
