Hawaii Republic Of Hawaii, Department of Finance 20 Dollars 1895 (ND 1899) Pick 8s Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. Republic of Hawaii coins and notes are extremely popular with collectors, with coins being more or less plentiful enough to meet demand. Paper notes, however, and their associated Specimen, are exceedingly rare, with few extant to be enjoyed by collectors. Treasury records indicate that only 3,000 notes of this denomination, backed by gold, were printed, and all but two were redeemed. Of the 2,998 notes redeemed, only four cancelled examples have surfaced. At the time of writing, PMG has graded only two Specimen of this denomination, and only one cancelled banknote. Notice the large left margin which remains intact. Small overprint cancellations and two hole punches are mentioned for accuracy. Extremely rare and equally desirable.
