India Government of India, Kurrachee / Bombay 5 Rupees 20.1.1871 Pick A2p1 Jhunjhunwalla-Razack 2A.1.1 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. An incredible and impressive prototype from an era of Indian Paper Money seldom seen. This Proof was created by the Bank of England, which printed Indian Government notes during the second half of the 19th-century. The printer notation on top front, reading "No 8 - Aug 21 - 1871 - 8 notes returned from B.O.E" tells how few of these Proofs were actually made. The paper is original and the state of preservation is exemplary. Punch hole cancelled as was the custom and simply incredible. Notice that this denomination could have been issued/redeemed in either Kurrachee (Karachi) or Bombay. The first we have offered and an item that may not be seen again for quite some time, if ever.
