Japan Bank of Japan 1000 Yen ND (1945) Pick 45s3 Specimen PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. This "top pop" example is tied for highest graded note for this variety in the PMG Population Report at the time of cataloging. These issues are known as the Expedient Specimen, referring to their quick production and brief circulation. They were issued within days of Japan's surrender to the Allied Powers in 1945 and withdrawn less than seven months later. The denomination offered here features the portrait of legendary hero Yamato Takeru and a vignette of the Takebe Taisha shrine in Otsu, which is dedicated to him. This example has four hole punched cancellations at the center of the note. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
