Palestine Palestine Currency Board 5 Pounds 1.1.1944 Pick 8d PMG Choice Very Fine 35. Always a highly popular series with collectors, its long run from 1927 to 1945 highlights the sustained demand for paper money during a period shaped by World War II. In 1939, war had broken out in Europe, with huge global economic effects extending to overseas European territories and currency demand. Over the course of the war, the Palestine Currency Board increased notes in circulation fourfold. This vivid red note with yellow-green accents features the Crusader's Tower at Ramleh on the front and the Citadel of Jerusalem, or 'Tower of David,' on the back, consistent with the series. The example offered here represents the final date and signature combination (Ezechiel, Caulcutt, Boyd, and Kerhsaw) of the issue. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
