China Board of Revenue 50 Taels 1853 (Yr. 3) Pick A13a S/M#H176-5 PMG Very Fine 30. Ch'ing Dynasty Board of Revenue notes are denominated in Taels and they are scarcer than their contemporary Cash counterparts. This 50 Taels is the highest denomination of the series, a considerable sum of money at the time of issue, and features the first of five known dates for the type. At the time of writing, this is the finest of only three examples graded in the PMG Population Report. We have not offered this date in the past. Accordingly, this lot should see spirited bidding. Minor staining and insect damage are mentioned for accuracy on this otherwise distinguished and very rare type note.
