Malaysia Bank Negara 1000 Ringgit ND (1976-81) Pick 18 KNB18a-b PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. A beautiful and extremely popular type note, and the second note in a consecutive pair offered in this auction. The banknote with serial number 555106 is seen in the previous lot. This is the third and final variety of this handsome design, as a completely new $1000 Ringgit with a different design was issued in 1983. Virtually all $500 and $1000 Ringgit notes were withdrawn from circulation in the late 1990s after the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997, leaving few to be had by collectors worldwide.
