Netherlands Indies Javasche Bank 50 Gulden 22.8.1922 Pick 55cs Specimen PMG Very Fine 25. This design replaced the previous 1864 issue after it was withdrawn from circulation in 1874 due to counterfeiting. This note, dated August 22, 1922, displays both the last date and the last signature combination for the variety (Van Rossem and Zeilinga Azn). Though the front city arms design was changed, the back maintains the 1864 issue's design of obligation panels in Dutch, Javanese, Chinese and Arabic. Both sides are overprinted "SPECIMEN." There are only 2 notes in a higher grade in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging, with a mere eight notes of this Specimen type overall. PMG mentions a security code stamp, "11882," at issue and rust specks, including some from a paper clip at upper left.
