Netherlands Indies Javasche Bank 100 Gulden 2.5.1921 Pick 56bs Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. Unlike the ornate obverse of a lower denomination, the 1875 issue 100 Gulden is where we first see the new front design of the god Mercury at the left, and the portrait of Jan Pieterszoon Coen on the right, with three wreathed city arms (Batavia, Surabaya, and Semarang) across the top design between them. This note displays the last date, May 5, 1921, and the last signature combination for the variety (Von Hemert and Zeilinga Azn). Although the paper is toned, as mentioned on its holder, the colors remain bright. PMG also mentions a security code stamp, 11842, at issue. At time of cataloging, this note is tied with only one other example as the highest available grade in the PMG Population Report.
