Union Patriotic Covers Not Graded. Fac-Simile of the New Confederate Bond; Jno. Bell - Traitor; "Infernal Machine", with Upham imprint, postally used, stamp removed. The Fac-Simile of the New Confederate Bond cover depicts an obscene gesture. An example of this cover is found on page 57 of the Comprehensive Catalog and History of Confederate Bonds second edition by Douglas B. Ball and Henry F. Simmons, Jr. United States Senator from Tennessee Jonathan Bell was the presidential candidate for the Constitutional Union Party in 1860. Bell would go on to support the Confederacy. He was considered a traitor by many in the North. The third cover lists (John J.) Crittenden, who supported Johnathan Bell for President and (Clement) Vallandigham, who was a lawyer and politician who led the Copperhead faction of anti-war Democrats during the American Civil War.
