1793 1/2 C C-3, B-3, R.3, VF25 NGC. Manley Die State 1.0, exhibiting light die rust on the reverse under TES and throughout the right wreath branch. The 1793 Liberty Cap half cent was struck during the first year of coinage at the fledgling U.S. Mint. The bust of Liberty faces left, unlike subsequent dates where Liberty faces right. Just four die pairs were used to strike 1793 half cents and C-3 is readily recognized by its curved date and curved fraction bar.      The 1793 is most often seen in circulated grades from VG to VF and is often accompanied by damage or corrosion. This VF25 is nicely detailed and shows relatively few imperfections. Warm cocoa-brown patina exhibits faint lavender overtones throughout the satiny devices, while olive-gold highlights glimmer along the borders and within the recesses. Peripheral wear accounts for partial denticles and the reverse shows a slightly softer strike than the obverse. The overall eye appeal is delightful and this elusive, problem-free type coin is a strong candidate for an advanced type set. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
