1787 1C Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils, Pointed Rays, N. 13-X, W-6855, R.2, AU58 PCGS. CAC. The vertical die crack at 6 o'clock on the reverse is diagnostic of Newman's X reverse, and many Newman 13-X pieces survive from the Bank of New York hoard. Chocolate-brown patina is highlighted with tinges of copper-gold on the high points. The strike is slightly off-center and typical clash marks are noted. The lower left obverse and upper left reverse devices are a bit softly struck. This near-Mint Fugio cent is housed in a generation 3.1 green label holder and endorsed by CAC.
