ARABIA. Philippopolis. Philip II (AD 247-249). AE (28mm, 17.84 gm, 5h). NGC VG 5/5 - 3/5. ????? ? ? ????? F??????C C??, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip II right, seen from front / F???????????O?-???O????, Roma (or Allat) seated on shield left, two small figures (Philip's parents) on eagle left in outstretched right hand, grounded scepter in left hand; S-C across fields. RPC VIII online unassigned 2439. From the Eyeappealing Collection. Son of Philip I, Philip II was appointed Caesar at just seven years old in AD 244 and then Augustus in AD 247. Unfortunately, he died when he was only twelve when his father was killed by Decius' army in AD 249.
