(Hartford?), CT- Hartford & N(ew) Haven Turnpike 4¢ ND (ca. 1799) Remainder PMG About Uncirculated 53. The turnpike was authorized in October 1798 and opened the following year. This scrip, engraved by Amos Doolittle of New Haven, was used for tolls on the road and was printed in either blue or black ink (in this case black). This note was good for the passage for each horse-drawn empty horse cart to pass one gate. This is an unissued remainder with some stains noted by PMG.
