Allectus, Romano-British Empire (AD 293-296). AE quinarius (20mm, 2.75 gm, 7h). NGC XF 5/5 - 4/5. Camulodunum, ca. AD 295-296. IMP C ALLECTVS P F AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust of Allectus right, seen from front / VIRTVS AVG, galley right, with mast and six crew; Q C in exergue. RIC V.II 128. Glittery, sage patina. From the Dr. Charles Jay Deur Collection, for the charitable benefit of Calvin University and Peace Lutheran Church of Hurst. Ex Olympus Coins, private sale with old dealer's tag included. Appointed treasurer under the emperor Carausius of the Romano-Britannian Empire, Allectus would betray Carausius, resulting in the latter's death.
