ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR fourée tetradrachm (30mm, 14.51 gm, 1h). NGC Choice VF 5/5 - 2/5, core visible, brushed. Ancient imitation of New Style coinage, ca. 124/123 BC, 5th month, Deinoc, Epigene, and Sosandrus, magistrates. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with a vine scroll, Pegasus above filled upturned cheek flap, protomes of four horses above visor / ?-T? / MIK-ION / EYP-YK?E / SO/KPA/THS, owl standing facing on overturned amphora decorated with E (month); the Dioscuri standing facing in right field, each with patera in outstretched right hand and grounded scepter in left, SF (engraver) below, all within olive wreath.
