José I gold 1600 Reis 1752-B VF Details (Excessive Clipping) PCGS, Bahia mint, KM181.1, LMB-351 (RRR, 2 Known). A major rarity from the Brazilian gold series with 2 known examples recorded to have survived to our days. When scanning through Jose's gold types in Livro das Moedas do Brasil, one can see that the 1772-B 1600 Reis is unique, and that the 1758, 1759 and 1760 Bahia 3200 Reis are also unique; after those, this is the only unpriced piece across all Jose I issues, with a simple "RRR" in the catalog and "2 known" in notation. Despite the grade qualifier, this piece retains well-defined surfaces with honest wear and bold date/mintmark. Sure to entice the most advanced collectors of Brazilian gold coins.
