Charles III 8 Reales 1774 PTS-JR MS65 NGC, Potosi mint, KM55, Cal-1170. A date that is not a stranger to elite levels of preservation, though this piece's beauty is simply sublime. The blast-white Millennia Collection example in PCGS MS65 recently realized $7,320 (Heritage Auction 3132, April 2026, Lot 32163), while this example--in line with what we expect from the Grundy Collection--displays more original toning that includes a gorgeously lustrous patina of fine champagne as well as scattered areas of deep-ocean blue in the obverse fields.
