Salzburg. Paris von Lodron gold 8 Ducat 1628 MS62 PCGS, Salzburg mint, KM130, Fr-731, Probszt-1046, Zöttl 1255. 27.73gm. One-year type. On September 24th, 1628, the newly completed Salzburg Cathedral was solemnly consecrated, marking the culmination of just fifteen years of construction. As the choir positioned upon the cathedral's marble galleries, they sung "Te Deum," symbolizing a true spiritual renewal of Salzburg after the cathedral devastatingly burned down in 1598. This construction was a triumph of one of the Baroque era's architectural masterpieces and the 8 Ducat at hand commemorates that perfectly, yielding a firm strike to produce a lavish design, with every element set to impress. Its exceptional near-Choice preservation ensures that every intricate detail remains remarkably well defined, allowing the artistry of the piece to be appreciated to its fullest. Includes original collector's envelope. Ex J. Schulman, Amsterdam Sale 21 (November 1932, Lot 282 "extrêmement rare"). HID07901242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
