Salzburg. Paris von Lodron gold 8 Ducat 1628 MS61 NGC, KM130, Fr-731, Zöttl-1252. 42mm. 27.77gm. A gratifying one-year pictorial piece commemorating the Dedication of the Salzburg Cathedral in splendid numismatic fashion, struck a full fourteen years after construction began. This substantial 8 Ducat issue, while not the largest size stuck, comes to market much less frequently than the 10, 6, or 4 Ducat denominations. Bearing the incredibly intricate designs Paris von Lodron named issues are known for, the large format and lemon glow only enhance the visuals that continue to inspire the lucky viewer.
