Salzburg. Sigismund III gold 12 Ducats 1753 MS61 PCGS, cf. KM-C381 (for type), Zottl-2876. 41.67gm. Dies by Franz Matzenkopf. A wholly impressive survivor, to say the least, and among the larger gold products from Salzburg that one can hope to witness in their lifetime. Imbued with stunning quality in engraved detail one expects from later Austrian pieces and punctuated by a superior striking, relaying all detail intended by Matzenkopf. While precluded from a finer conditional assignment by scattered wisps, this ultimately does little to detract from beaming reflectivity and honey-toned expanses. Clearly meant for presentation at this weight and certainly well-kept in an advanced cabinet, where only the most discerning collectors will compete for this prize.
