1873 G$1 Closed 3 MS63 PCGS. CAC. Between the Open 3 and Closed 3, the latter subtype is exponentially scarcer, with just 1,800 coins minted compared to the 123,000 coins of its contemporary. The current example displays elucidating orange-gold luster that complements its well-struck visage. The issue is seldom seen beyond Select Uncirculated, as PCGS reports just 13 examples that exceed the current piece (7/26). Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2026), lot 4040.
