1799 $10 Small Obverse Stars, BD-7, R.3 -- Polished --NCS. AU Details. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/d. A well-defined Heraldic Eagle ten. The green-gold surfaces are glossy from a long-ago wipe, but there are relatively few marks, and considerable luster remains. The die state is arguably d/c, since there is no radial crack to the left wing. A crack from the rim to the R in LIBERTY is present but delicate. Along with BD-8, BD-7 is Breen's "Irregular Date" variety. The 7 tilts right and is entered slightly high, relative to its neighbor digits. BD-7 is most available among the eight 1799 Small Obverse Stars marriages, though it is slightly scarcer than BD-10, a Large Obverse Stars variety.
