(Boston), MA- Irish National League of Massachusetts $1 Anti-Coercion Fund Donation Receipt ND (ca. 1880s) PMG About Uncirculated 55. The Irish National League of Massachusetts was formed around 1882-83 in support of Irish land reform and Irish home rule. This $1 receipt was provided to contributors to the organization's Anti-Coercion Fund which supported tenant farmers in Ireland engaged in rent strikes against landlords. The receipt features a portrait of Charles Stuart Parnell (1846-1891), a leading Irish nationalist and politician involved in the "home rule" movement in the 1880s and early 1890s. PMG mentions the presence of minor foreign substance which is not obvious through the holder.
