Last Replacement Printing Series 541 $10 Replacement Note PMG Very Fine 30. As the Comprehensive Catalog of Military Payment Certificates fifth edition by Fred Schwan and Larry Smulczenski states on page 132 "there are many mysteries associated with series 541 replacements." One of those is that the $10 denomination has a First and a Second Printing of 400,000 each. However, replacements are known from what would be the 21st printing with serial numbers in the 21000000 range. The short answer for this anomaly is that for Series 541, Tudor Press lost control of the numbering system, according to page 27 of Schwan and Smulczenski. Series 541 was the last MPC series printed by Tudor. Serial numbers for replacement notes are listed in Schwan and Smulczenski and the Series 541 $10 replacements are listed on page 214. For circulation notes, the First Printing has a population of four, the Second Printing's population is eight, and the 21st and last printing has a population of three. The highest serial number listed is serial number F21065241 which is the replacement in this lot. It is also the highest 21st Printing PMG graded example by ten grade points.
