Inverted Back Error Fr. 1926-C $1 2001 Federal Reserve Note. PMG About Uncirculated 53. Backs are printed first and in this case the paper was fed upside down through the printer to receive the second printing of the face. Serial number C57436833C in this lot is from the H4 sheet position on a 32 subject sheet. This puts this note in the lower right corner and since the paper was upside down when it received its second printing, the larger amount of selvage that is found along the top is now along the bottom margin. The US Error Note Encyclopedia second edition by Stephen M. Sullivan states on page 120 how a change in standard operating procedure of trimming the bottom margin of the currency sheet before the face printing ushered in the Type II variety for this error type in the middle of Series 1974 $50 and $100 FRNs.
