Inverted Overprint on Back Error Fr. 2027-B $10 1985 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. The vertical sheet of 16 that this H4 error example belonged to was not only fed through the printer upside down, but also oriented so that the overprint was also printed on the back. A frameline for the preceeding note runs partially along the top edge and the district seal is boldly embossed on the face. The error in this lot is of the Type II variety. Type II inverted third printing errors are described on page 100 of the second edition of the Stephen M. Sullivan error reference, US Error Note Encyclopedia, where he relates, "To make it easier for the internal inspectors to identify these (inverted overprint) errors, the bottom margin of the currency sheets were trimmed before the face printing--a task that, prior to this change, was performed after the face printing--for Series (print) runs after 1977A. This process was actually initiated in the middle of printing Series 1974 $50 and $100 Federal Reserve Notes." HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
