Fr. 64 $5 1869 Legal Tender PCGS Banknote Gem Unc 65 PPQ. The 1869 Rainbow Legal series is always popular among collectors of large size material due to the inherent beauty of all notes comprising the series. Named for the multiple beautiful colors featured on its face, this Rainbow Woodchopper exhibits pretty blue cotton fibers and a charming green tint which contrast well with the red serial numbers and Treasury Seal. All these colors are well applied on bright paper surfaces which are complemented by wide margins showcasing a plate position number 5 at upper center. We have auctioned this exact piece just twice previously, with the first appearance being in May 2021. More recently, it brought $8,100 in May 2024.
