1859 1C PR66 PCGS. Snow-PR2. The 1859 Indian cent was the first issue to follow the short-lived Flying Eagle cent and it features a new laurel wreath on the reverse. It became a one-year type coin when the Mint updated the reverse to an oak wreath and shield for the 1860 Indian cents. This Premium Gem proof is in select company at the present PR66 grade level. Both sides are beautifully patinated in honey-tan shades that yield to competing gold and pink undertones at certain angles. The devices are fully impressed throughout. A few trivial carbon flecks are noted on the obverse, none of which diminish the impressive eye appeal. PCGS reports only a single numerically finer example in non-Cameo. PCGS Population: 42 in 66 (6 in 66+), 1 finer (8/26). Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2002), lot 5131. From The West Texas Collection. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
