1864 1C Copper-Nickel PR66 NGC. Snow-PR1. This is an extraordinarily attractive representative of this challenging Civil War-era proof from a limited production of an estimated 370 copper-nickel proof coins. The fields reveal appreciable reflectivity at all angles and the devices are fully impressed throughout. Both sides are toned in overlapping swirls of golden-brown and tan hues that highlight the virtually blemish-free surfaces. A few isolated, hazy whispers exist within the fields. The 1864 Indian cent is highly sought after as the final small cent to utilize the copper-nickel alloy. NGC reports only one numerically finer piece in non-Cameo. NGC Census: 8 in 66, 0 finer (8/26). Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2002), lot 5139. From The West Texas Collection. HID06601242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
