1799 1C S-189, B-3, R.2, VG10 PCGS. Breen Die State II, at least. The rim breaks of subsequent die states may be obscured by the wear. The 1799 is a famous key date among Draped Bust large cents, and a coin that even non-Sheldon collectors often seek to acquire. The current example displays even but moderate wear. Major details in Liberty's hair remain clear, and the wreath is well outlined. However, the borders grow weak by comparison, with LIBERTY, the date, and the reverse border legend and fraction fading into the rim. Scattered marks are mostly on the obverse, and are as often seen on VG-level Draped Bust cents. This is a pleasing example of the challenging 1799 issue.
