1871 5C Pattern J-1054 P-1189 PCGS PR63RB OGH High R.6 Copper 1871 Five Cent Pattern, Judd-1054, Pollock-1189, struck in copper with a plain edge and graded PCGS PR63RB. This scarce High R.6 pattern features the small Liberty head design on the obverse with 5 CENTS within a wreath on the reverse. A very attractive example with rich original red-brown surfaces and noticeable blue, violet and reddish iridescence that becomes much more apparent as the coin is rotated under light. Housed in an early PCGS Gen 3.0 Old Green Holder from approximately 1990-1993. A scarce and visually appealing early U.S. pattern with considerably more character in hand than a single photograph can capture.
