Belgian Congo Etat Independent du Congo 100 Francs 7.2.1896 Pick 2b PMG Very Fine 20. Only one of two banknotes issued in the inaugural series following the establishment of the Congo Free State in 1885, alongside the 10 Francs. With only 2,000 notes printed in total, the 100 Francs is exceptionally scarce in any grade. The example offered here is tied for the highest grade recorded in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging. Hole punch cancellations are expected on this issue, as there is only one known example without them. Pinholes are mentioned on the holder. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
