Ceylon POW Camps / Anglo-Boer War, Ragama 1 Rupee ND (1899-02) Pick UNL POW4835 PMG Very Fine 25. Second highest denomination from the Rama POW Camp, Ceylon, c.1901-1902. Notice the small, two digit serial number present on this example. These notes were printed on colored cardstock, and the paper wrinkled and pulled when folded, hence the comments on the back of the third party holder. The printed and written ink remain bold and clear, along with the purple stamped overprint. Ragama Camp prisoners were able to shop at the Ceylon Ice & Cold Storage Company, hence the need for this series of notes. Rare in any grade and part of a fantastic group offered in this auction.
