The sole example of the variety recorded in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging, this offering also marks the first time we have presented the note at auction. Now just shy of a century and a half old, its condition is particularly impressive. Although small splits are mentioned on the holder, the note is still considerably appealing. Issued by the young republic as it sought to establish a stable national currency during the late nineteenth century, it is the first issue recorded in the Standard Catalogue of World Paper Money and represents a significant period in the development of El Salvador's monetary system.
