France La Banque Royale 1000 Livres 1720 Pick A18b PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. The banknote offered here is the single finest graded example in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging, with no other examples reaching About Uncirculated or Uncirculated grades. An exceptional condition for a note more than two centuries old, it survives from the reign of King Louis XV. Issued in the final year of the Banque Royale, this note dates from a period of severe financial crisis in France. Excessive issuance of paper money led to the bank's collapse after notes had been produced under the Banque Royale name for just two years. Although a corner tip is missing, the note retains strong eye appeal and remains incredibly scarce. We last offered this exact note in 2023, and its return presents another opportunity to acquire an important piece of French financial history.
