France La Banque Royale 10 Livres 1720 Pick A22 PMG About Uncirculated 55. The example offered here is presented in a remarkable grade considering more than two centuries have passed since it entered circulation. While the design may be unassuming, this Banque Royale emerged from John Law's ambitious attempt to expand the use of paper money as a means of supporting the French economy. However, the experience was short-lived due to over issuance and the bank collapsed in 1720, leaving notes such as the one offered here as scarce survivors. At time of cataloging, there are a mere four examples in total recorded in the PMG Population Report for the variety.
