France Banque de France 200 Francs 27.10.1864 Pick 46a PMG Very Fine 20. What might appear to be an understated design in fact holds significance in the development of French paper money printing. As the final note in the 1847?1864 series, this design was the last to be printed in black before the Banque de France transitioned to blue ink as an anti-counterfeiting measure. This variety also stands out from the other 200 Francs notes of the series, which bear the name of the issuing branch underneath the Banque de France title. Here, the composition differs, with "Paris" appearing alongside the date instead. At time of cataloging, only three examples of this variety are recorded in the PMG Population Report. Environmental damage is mentioned on the holder. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
