France Banque de France 50 Francs 12.2.1869 Pick 51a PMG Very Fine 25 Net. The banknote presented here is tied for the finest graded of just five examples recorded in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging. Beyond its scarcity and exceptional condition, this note marks a important development in French paper money at the time. As the first note in the 1866?1889 series, this issue was the first to use the newly adopted blue ink, imported from Saxony and used by the Banque de France from 1862 as a counterfeiting measure. Repaired and pinholes are mentioned on the holder. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
