Iran Bank Markazi 5000 Rials ND (1971-72) Pick 95a PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. This is a desirable second highest denomination of the series, presented in a high grade with Exceptional Paper Quality. The front features the central portrait of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, the penultimate note to feature this specific portrait of the monarch. The back depicts Tehran's Golestan Palace after a painting by celebrated Iranian artist Mohammad Ghaffari, better known as Kamal-ol-Molk, whose career was closely connected to the Qajar court. In fact, it was Naser al-Din Shah Qajar who invited Ghaffari to stay at the court and gave the artist the title Kamal-ol-Molk, which means 'Perfection on Land'. The use of his work on this 5000 Rials design adds another layer of Iranian royal and artistic history to the note, giving the reverse considerably mor significance than its visual appeal alone.
