South Africa de Nationale bank der Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek 1 Pond 1.10.1892 Pick 48a PMG Very Fine 20 Net. This South African 1 Pond represents an incredibly scarce issued note which has survived for over a century. There are only nine examples recorded in total in the PMG Population Report at time of cataloging, and just two are graded finer than the example offered here, and none exceed a Very Fine grade. Notes bearing de Nationale bank der Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek as the issuing authority are exceptionally limited. The bank was founded in Pretoria in 1890, only issuing paper money between 1891 and 1902, when the bank was renamed the National Bank of South Africa Limited following the Boer War. While there are condition comments on the holder, which record the note is cancelled, exhibits pinholes, and is severed and reattached.
