Apalachicola, FL- Commercial Bank of Florida $2-$2-$3-$4 18__ G4-G4-G6-G8 / X2 Benice 15-15-16-17 Fine. The territorial legislative council approved the incorporation of this bank over the governor's veto on February 7, 1833. In 1837, the bank's ownership changed hands with the new owner fleeing town with the bank's assets. Although the assets were returned, the bank was never on a sound footing and mercifully closed its doors soon thereafter. The notes from this sheet each depict sailing vessels of various sizes and portraits of famous personages. The selvage on this sheet has a number of foldovers, short tears, body holes, a stain, and other issues only one of which (a small body hole touching the left margin of the $3 note) affects the notes.
