Apalachicola, FL- Exchange & Banking Co. of Apalachicola $1 Dec. 20, 1841 G2 Benice 27 Remainder PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. The company was a completely fraudulent "bank," existing only in the minds of the perpetrators, that lacked even an office. The notes from this enterprise were always intended for circulation far from Florida as evidenced by an 1846 Vermont newspaper story detailing the efforts of three men to unload $600 or $700 in notes of several banks including this one. The $1 design features Ceres seated flanked by vignettes of Hope at left and a bull's head in an end panel comprising agricultural products. A small steam-powered sailing vessel vignette appears at bottom center. HID08101242017 www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
